First International Camel – Endurance Championship

The World Camel Endurance Championships are a key part of World Camelids Sports’ international calendar of events, challenging camels and jockeys over a demanding course. Approved at the 2023 WCS General Assembly, the two-stage format covers a total of 16km in both the male and female categories with a total prize pool of SAR 2 million available to the victors each year. Staged in conjunction with the Royal Commission for AlUla and the Arab Camel Racing Federation, the first edition in 2024 saw jockeys from 20 countries compete at the AlUla Camel Field in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. While the men’s race saw Saudi jockeys finish in the top three positions, the global nature of camel racing was showcased in the women’s race with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Germany making up the top three. The details for the second edition of the World Camel Endurance Championships will be announced at a later date.
